A word of welcome from the Bavarian State Minister of Science and the Arts,  Markus Blume, for the German-Korean Aesthetic Face Meeting

Bavaria is a unique medical location with first-class facilities in all of its regions and has a leading role in the field of cutting-edge research: In medicine, the Free State stands for best education, best research and best patient care. Our aim is to be Germany’s No. 1 location for university medicine and to be on a par with the leading locations of the world. This is why we have ushered in a new era of modern medicine with the Highmed Agenda. Medicine of the future is made in Bavaria: We want more cooperation, better translation and faster innovation!

State-of-the-art medicine utilizes the advantages of collaboration and network structures – and it thrives on exchange between disciplines and across national borders. In this spirit, medical congresses are crucial platforms for exchanging the latest research findings, expanding existing cooperation and initiating new collaborations. I am therefore delighted that top-level representatives of aesthetic and plastic surgery medicine from Europe, South Korea and the United States come together in Munich for the 1st German-Korean Aesthetic Face Meeting to present the latest findings and learn from each other.

I would like to thank all of you for your initiative, your passion and your progress and I wish you stimulating days and inspiring discussions with new insights and ideas in Bavaria’s state capital. Greetings from the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea in Bavaria on the occasion of the first German-Korean Aesthetics Meeting in Munich

Beauty and cosmetic surgery play a very important role in Korean society; in no other country are more cosmetic procedures performed per capita than in South Korea. A flourishing market has developed in the field of aesthetics and South Korea is one of the leading nations in aesthetic medicine. The value of the Korean beauty industry has long exceeded USD 10 billion.

The state capital of Munich is fortunate to welcome the best plastic surgeons and dermatologists from South Korea together with the most renowned German experts in this field to this congress in February 2025.

As in so many industries, the economic miracle country South Korea, which developed into one of the richest export nations after the end of the Korean War in 1953, also impresses with innovation and precision in aesthetics.

Various areas of Korean culture (K-culture) are enjoying a worldwide triumph, just think of K-food, K-pop, K-drama and now also K-beauty.

Economic exchange between Germany and Korea is flourishing in areas such as automotive and mechanical engineering, battery technology and biotech. We hope that a congress such as the German-Korean Aesthetics Meeting will encourage the beauty industry to also become such an area of interdependence and cooperation.

As a representative of the Republic of Korea in Bavaria, I am personally pleased about the initiative of such a congress in Munich and wish you a lively professional exchange and a successful event.

Best regards,

Thomas Elster
Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea in Bavaria
